The Future Is Clear With the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell
Since the early days of the company, Honda has maintained a reputation for building automobiles that are well-built and fuel efficient. Cars like the Insight and Civic Hybrid were forerunners in the lucrative alternative fuel market. In fact, when the EPA produced their list of the 10 most fuel efficient cars from 1984-2010, half of them were Honda vehicles. Honda has now taken the next step by introducing their first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.
The new 2017 Honda Clarity is the first hydrogen fuel cell vehicle to be as fun to drive as it is fuel efficient. Currently only available for sale in California, the Clarity has a 366-mile range per tank, converting hydrogen into electricity and giving the car instant acceleration with zero emissions. The engine components fit under the hood like a standard vehicle, leaving the rest of the real estate for human space instead of filling it with batteries and hydrogen tanks.
Honda Clarity Brings the Future of Fuel Efficiency
So, what exactly is a fuel cell?
A fuel cell is a device that generates energy by creating a chemical reaction. A fuel, in this case hydrogen, becomes ionized and creates an electrical charge, which sends power to the car. The only thing left over from the reaction is H2O, otherwise known as water. This means the fuel cell creates no emissions whatsoever.
This video, created by the U.S. Department of Energy, explains how a fuel cell works further:
Well, how does the Clarity drive?
The Honda Clarity Fuel Cell features excellent performance and handling, powered by an electric motor with 221 pound-feet of torque. The 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels are equipped with exclusive low-rolling resistance sport performance tires.
Even in “Normal” mode, the electric motor generates rapid acceleration the moment you press the accelerator. The Honda Clarity scores over its competitors with the exclusive Sport mode, which enhances the acceleration and handling.
Where do you get hydrogen to fill the tank?
As hydrogen fuel cell technology becomes more mainstream, refueling stations will pop up all over the country. Right now, they only exist in California — the only place you can get a Clarity.
While they may not run on hydrogen fuel cells, there are a number of fuel efficient vehicles available at Asheboro Honda. The Accord Hybrid gets 49 MPG in the city, and the gas-powered Civic gets 39 MPG on the highway. Come on in and take a test drive today.
With summer fast approaching, many Asheboro residents will be heading to the North Carolina Zoo. Every animal there has special qualities that make them unique, just like the Honda vehicles for sale at our showroom.
Just for fun, we decided to pair up some of the popular zoo animals with our favorite Honda models. Take a look at the infographic below to see what Honda vehicle best matches with an animal from the zoo.

The all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey was created to offer something special for everyone. This van was designed around the needs of the family, so each person – from the driver to the third-row passenger – is comfortable and happy.
Because function, flexibility, and comfort was in the forefront of the designers’ minds, the 2018 Odyssey will be the best van on the road.
2018 Honda Odyssey: Designed For the Entire Family
Enjoy Innovative Design
The redesign of the 2018 model takes the Odyssey to a new level of sophistication. The designers weren’t concerned with only aesthetic changes, but wanted to truly create a vehicle that works for the modern family.
One of the most exciting new features is the Magic Slide 2nd-Row seats, which allow for easier access to the third row. Not only will seats be able to slide front to back, but they’ll also move side to side.
The 2018 Odyssey will also be the quickest, most fuel efficient, best handling minivan on the road. It includes a brand new direct injection V6 engine and the first-ever Honda 10-speed transmission. This, combined with a more rigid body and a sophisticated chassis design, will make for a better overall driving experience.
Connect with Family Members
The 2018 Honda Odyssey designers found that minivan drivers and third-row passengers have difficulty communicating. They prioritized cabin quietness and introduced a host of noise-reducing features, so the Honda Odyssey now has the quietest cabin in its class.
Honda also included Honda CabinWatch and CabinTalk to make it easier than ever to see and communicate with passengers in the rear seats. Parents are able to talk to their kids in the back seat either over a PA system or through headphones, and are able to get a bird’s eye view of the second and third rows on their 8-inch touchscreen in the command center.
As you can see, the 2018 Odyssey is the most connected, most comfortable, and most flexible Odyssey yet.
Experience Unparalleled Safety
Honda takes the safety of your family very seriously and not only included features to protect you in the event of a crash, but also provided features that will help you avoid an accident altogether.
Honda Sensing™ Suite contains the latest technology such as:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™
- Road Departure Mitigation System
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Adaptive Cruise Control
Plus, drivers will feel even more confident in their 2018 Odyssey with the inclusion of Blind Spot Information and a multi-angle rearview camera.

You probably know the most obvious difference between a hatchback and a sedan: one has hatchback style storage while the other has a standard trunk. However, the new Honda Civic Hatchback and the new Honda Civic Sedan have more differences than just their cargo space.
Below, we help guide you through what makes the sedan and hatchback unique models — as well as which best fits your needs.
Honda Civic Hatchback vs. Sedan: What You Need to Know
Exterior
The most noticeable stylistic difference between the Civic Hatchback and the Civic Sedan is at the rear of the car. The hatchback has a back window that is connected to the hatchback cargo area, while the sedan has a sharply sloped roof line that ends at the trunk-lid opening. This difference results in about four extra inches of length over the sedan.
Other styling differences include:
Hatchback
- Additional central exhaust
- Enlarged spoiler
- Glossy black grille, black wheels
- Projector-Beam Halogen Headlights
- Fin-Type Roof-Mounted Antenna
Sedan
- Chrome grille, chrome wheels
- Projector-Beam Halogen Headlights or LED Headlights
- Integrated Rear-Window Antenna
Interior
Cargo space is the biggest difference between these two cars. The Civic Sedan offers 15.1 cubic feet of storage space, having one of the largest trunks of any other compact car on the market. With the available 60/40-split folding rear seat, you can fit even more of your stuff inside
The Civic Hatchback, although not as long as the Sedan, is taller. With class-leading cargo space of 25.7 cubic feet (46.2 cubic feet with the seats down), the Hatchback is a great choice if you have a lot you need to take with you.
Other than cargo space, the interior of the Civic Sedan and the Civic Hatchback are hardly different from one another. Both cars come with a functional, comfortable cabin and premium seats.
Performance
The Civic Sedan comes standard with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine while the Civic Hatchback comes with the 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Both engines provide impressive MPG, with the Sedan coming out on top if you opt for a trim upgrade:
- Civic Sedan: 28-32 MPG City, 32-36 MPG Highway
- Civic Hatchback: 30-31 MPG City, 32-34 MPG Highway
The hatchback has a different suspension tuning and steering system than the sedan, which results in a more athletic feel to your drive.
Safety and Technology
The Civic Sedan and Civic Hatchback were awarded perfect 5-star ratings in every government crash-test category. This ensures peace of mind in either model, although it doesn’t make your decision any easier. The 2017 Honda Civic has also been deemed the Overall Best Buy Award Winner by Kelley Blue Book, ensuring that no matter the body type, you’ll be getting a quality car.
The same safety and infotainment features appear in both body types. Standard technology includes a 5” color screen, a USB port, a rearview camera, and Bluetooth® phone and audio.
Which Honda Civic is Right For You?
Now that you know more about the 2017 Honda Civic Sedan and 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback, it’s clear that either model comes with plenty of benefits and signature Honda quality and style.
If you like a larger vehicle with a standard trunk and slightly better fuel efficiency, perhaps opt for the Sedan. If you crave an edge-of-your-seat ride, go with the sportier Hatchback.
This is a big choice, and getting in touch with the experts at Asheboro Honda can help. Whether it’s scheduling a test drive with one of Honda Civics for sale in our inventory or probing the minds of our knowledgeable staff, we are here to help you end up with the Civic that’s perfect for you.
Comparing Honda SUVs to Find Your Ideal Model
Searching for your next SUV is not a challenge when looking at the Honda lineup. The automaker offers three different models of varying sizes, each appealing to a different type of buyer. Whether you are interested in new or used Honda SUVs, the HR-V, CR-V, and Pilot all offer great options.
Which Honda SUV Should You Buy?
Cargo Area and Seating
HR-V
The Honda HR-V is the smallest of the three models and the newest to the lineup. This subcompact feels downright spacious thanks to its innovative Magic Seat® that splits and folds in various configurations, including upward. When the rear seats are upright, the HR-V gives you 25 cubic feet of space, or you can fold them down and get 58.8 cubic feet.
CR-V
People who only need seating for five people but want somewhat more space than what the HR-V offers will appreciate the Honda CR-V for driving around Asheboro, NC. This model has 39.2 cubic feet of space with all seats occupied, which is ideal for your groceries and more, or 75.8 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Pilot
For anyone who needs even more space for cargo—more than enough to accommodate certain types of furniture—or who wants an extra row of seats, the Honda Pilot is the best choice. With three rows of seats, this family mover can easily fit eight people.
When all three rows are upright, there is 18.5 cubic feet of space, or 55.9 cubic feet behind the second row—much more than the HR-V and CR-V provide behind their rear seats. Folding down both rear rows in the Pilot gives you a whopping 109 cubic feet, the most space of any Honda SUV.
Engines and Efficiency
While some people value the cargo space of their Honda SUV the most, others are looking for the most power or efficiency. As expected, the models in order of efficiency are the HR-V, CR-V, and Pilot. As for power, the reverse is true, with the Pilot being the most powerful and the HR-V the least.
HR-V
The HR-V offers just one engine: a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder with 141 horsepower. However, it can get up to 31 MPG combined, narrowly beating the CR-V for efficiency.
CR-V
For the CR-V model, you have the choice of a 184-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder or a 190-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The Honda CR-V actually has one of the best fuel economies in its class, with the new turbocharged engine delivering 30 MPG combined, while the familiar base engine gets 28 MPG combined.
Pilot
The Pilot is not only the largest SUV in the lineup but the most powerful of the bunch as well, with a 280-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine. As for fuel efficiency, you can expect up to 23 MPG combined.
Take the Honda SUVs on a Test Drive
Once you have arrived at your decision, the team at Asheboro Honda can help you get behind the wheel of your chosen SUV for a test drive. Whether you’re interested in the HR-V, CR-V, or Pilot, or if you’re still deciding, we will work with you to ensure that you drive off our lot in Asheboro, North Carolina, with a smile on your face. We can even help customize your vehicle by explaining the various trims, options, and accessories.
Whether you’re in the market for a new or used vehicle, Honda delivers a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and style.
The decision to buy a new car shouldn’t be taken lightly. Whether you’re looking for a vehicle for just yourself or something that will comfortably accommodate a family, you want a vehicle that is reliable. That’s where Honda comes into play.
Honda Cars Carry a Tradition of Reliability
While many consumers prefer American-made vehicles, Honda – a Japanese company – should not be overlooked when considering a new car purchase. According to J.D. Power ratings, Honda currently carries a rating of 4 out of 5 for dependability and offers a number of models that received awards for their reliability and safety.
Recent Awards for Honda
A list containing some of these accolades can be seen below.
2017:
- The Accord Coupe, Civic Sedan, and Civic Coupe were awarded the IIHS Top Safety Pick
- Three models – the Ridgeline, Pilot and Accord Sedan – were awarded the IIHS Top Safety Pick+
- Four of Honda’s vehicles – the Accord Hybrid, Fit, HR-V and Ridgeline – were awarded KBB Best Resale Value honors

These awards not only offer the assurance that Honda is a reliable brand, but that they also care about the environment, as well as the safety of you and your family. A full list of recent awards and honors can be found here.
New or Used, Honda Reliability Isn’t an Issue
If you’re deciding whether to buy a new or used car, you have a lot of factors to consider. However, there’s one thing that you shouldn’t have to worry about when buying a Honda, and that is reliability.
Style is one of the biggest factors for many people looking to buy a new car, but in some cases, it can be overlooked if the vehicle is deemed a safe choice. One example, according to TrueDelta.com, is the 2012 Honda Civic:
“The 2012 Honda Civic wasn’t pretty. It wasn’t fun to drive. It didn’t ride well. It outsold all other compact sedans last year anyway. Why? Because it’s a safe choice. It was ‘good enough,’ and Civics have almost always been highly reliable.”
That same 2012 model can still be found on the road today. While there may be brands that depreciate quickly, Honda isn’t one of them.
In 2013, J.D. Power’s Initial Quality Study found that “of the percentage of Honda models sold in that period, 75 percent were still on the road.” New Honda models may be stylish and flashy, but older models have proven to be just as dependable.

The Honda Civic has a long-running reputation among the most respected automobiles. The Civic has been a favorite for decades thanks to its reliability and sensibility.
But Honda has a racing heritage, too, and sometimes you want to enjoy that. So let’s cut to the chase. Which Honda Civic is the fastest?
The Honda Civic Type R is Built for Speed
Even at a standstill, the muscular Honda Civic Type R is a mean-looking machine. The aerodynamic wing on the back of the Type R and center exhaust say, “Don’t mess with me!” This is the fastest Civic there is, but it isn’t available for sale. Not yet. For the first time ever, the Type R will go on sale in the States later this year.
Alongside it is another performance model, the Honda Civic Si. The specs for both of these cars demand respect.
Honda Civic Type R
Engine: Turbocharged 4-cylinder with direct-injection and dual VTC
Displacement: 2.0 L
0-60 MPH: 5 seconds (est.)
The Type R is expected to be more powerful than the 306 HP previous generation.
Honda Civic Si
Engine: Turbocharged 4-cylinder with direct-injection
Displacement: 1.5 L
Similar to the Type R, the new Civic Si is expected to be more powerful than the one that came before it, so you can guess that it will have somewhere between 200 and 300 horsepower. It’s no wonder these two cars are expected to be the fastest production Civics ever.
What’s the Fastest Honda Civic You Can Buy Right Now?
Deciding on which model you buy from Asheboro Honda will be determined by what power package you want your Honda Civic to be equipped with. Let’s run them down.
Honda Civic DX, LX*, EX
Engine: i-VTEC® 4-cylinder
Displacement: 2.0L
Horsepower: 158
Torque: 138 lb.-ft.
* (not manual or CVT models)
Combined with a lower, longer, and wider stance, the 2017 Civic is an agile and sporty solution to your need for speed. Fuel-saving technology ensures that the extra burst of speed won’t cost you extra trips to the pump, too.
And yet you can get an even more powerful Civic when you opt for the EX-T or top-level Touring trim. These models feature the same engine as the upcoming Civic Si, just without any of the sport tuning.
Honda Civic EX-T, Touring
Engine: Turbocharged 4-cylinder with direct injection
Displacement: 1.5L
Horsepower: 174
Torque: 162 lb.-ft.
It goes without saying that the best way to test the speed of a new Honda Civic is to take one for a test drive. And the best place to take a test drive is at Asheboro Honda. Choose from our excellent selection of new and pre-owned Honda Civic models.
If you want more information on the Civic Type R and the Civic Si, call or visit our showroom in Asheboro, North Carolina. We can keep you updated and let you know when those models are available. They’re sure to have limited availability, so act fast.
Last week, the fifth-generation Honda Odyssey was revealed at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The family minivan has been completely redesigned for the 2018 model year.
A new Odyssey can only mean that Honda is staying committed to a segment that many manufacturers have dropped out of. Competition among the brands who build minivans has boiled down to a tight race between only a handful of automakers. Once it arrives in showrooms like ours, the Odyssey will have to go toe-to-toe with the likes of Chrysler’s new Pacifica, among others.
Keep reading to learn more about the Odyssey’s new and improved features. Find out why Honda understands minivans (and their owners) better than anyone.
2018 Odyssey Adds Family Friendly Seating and Technology
Magic Slide Seats
The Odyssey will feature Magic Slide Seats, innovative second row seating that gives families more flexibility.
You can remove the center section of the second-row to make captain’s chairs. Or you can slide the two outboard seats next to each other for a loveseat configuration. These seats are easily reached from the front row. They also allow passengers to have easier access to the third row.
Magic Slide Seats are also easy to remove entirely, giving you the most cargo space of any minivan on the road.
CabinTalk
This feature is designed to give your voice a rest. Calm your kids down by talking directly into the second- and third-row speakers. You can also communicate directly into the rear headphones if they’re watching a movie. CabinTalk will make connecting to your distracted family members a cinch, and you won’t have to raise your voice to be heard in the way back.
Rear-Seat Entertainment
Keep your kids from getting restless. Second- and third-row passengers have a 10.2-inch entertainment system. Play videos on the ceiling-mounted, entertainment system. Upload music on the audio system through an app on their smartphones.
Driver and Front Passenger Entertainment
Drivers and passengers have access to an 8” touchscreen infotainment system. It comes with an easy-to-use knob interface.
The single screen is an excellent improvement from the previous Odyssey’s dual-screen system, keeping all the information you need in one place so you don’t have to guess while driving. The new system is compatible with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™.
Improved Performance in the New Honda Odyssey
More Powerful Engine
The 2018 Odyssey will feature a 3.5L V6 engine with 280 horsepower. This is a whopping 32 horsepower bump from Odyssey’s previous 248.
More Transmission Options
You have the choice between two types of transmissions. Get a 9-speed transmission in lower trims, and a 10-speed transmission on higher grade models. This a great upgrade from the 6-speed automatic transmission of the older Odyssey. With this change, your ride will be smoother, and you’ll go longer between trips to the pump.
Better Handling
The 2018 Odyssey has a more responsive power steering system. Its rear suspension has been re-engineered. And its body structure is built from high-strength metals like steel, aluminum, and magnesium. So curb weight drops by 96 lbs. while body rigidity has increased by 44%. The end result is a lighter, stronger, and better-handling minivan.

The High Efficiency Future of Honda
Is greater efficiency part of your New Year’s resolutions? It’s certainly a part of Honda’s. The 2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is here, and six lucky recipients just dove head first into much clearer waters.
The 2017 Clarity Fuel Cell is starting out by making a home for itself in California, but we’re hoping it makes a trip to the east coast sooner rather than later. Read on to learn more about this new car and the driver’s who got the best Christmas presents of 2016.
Honda Clarity Fuel Cell: Clean, Mean, Driving Machine
In Torrance, California, six Honda customers got a shiny new Christmas present — the first of Honda’s deliveries of the new Clarity Fuel Cell. The 2017 model marks the third-generation of Honda’s hydrogen-powered sedan, and it’s promising drivers more in every category.
Wait, what exactly is this car?
The 2017 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell uses hydrogen fuel tanks to give drivers a better mileage range, plus a more environmentally friendly power source. This year, the Clarity features a smaller fuel cell stack, meaning more room for drivers and their passengers. The 2017 Clarity Fuel Cell will comfortably seat five.
Not impressed yet? Take a look at the benefits:
- Honda offers leasees a $15,000 hydrogen fuel card
- Leasees are eligible to apply for High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) cards. Drivers in CA can say goodbye to traffic, even if they’re traveling alone.
- 300+ mile driving range with no emissions
For now, the Clarity Fuel Cell is available exclusively at twelve dealerships in California, in the proximity of hydrogen fuel stations. Honda will continue to expand on more efficient offerings with an upcoming Plug-In Hybrid and fully Electric Honda Clarity in 2017 and beyond.
If you’d like more information about the 2017 Clarity Fuel Cell, or any of Honda’s hybrid cars, don’t hesitate to reach out to the staff at Asheboro Honda. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have, help you schedule a test drive, or keep you posted on the status of Honda’s high efficiency cars in North Carolina.
