Debating between the Honda Odyssey for sale in Asheboro and the Honda Pilot for sale? Not sure if you want a minivan or a crossover SUV?
Read some of the similarities and differences below and decide which features are better for you and your family.
Honda Pilot vs. Odyssey: Seating Capacity and Cargo Space
Seating options
Both the Odyssey and the Pilot provide seating for up to 8 people. The Odyssey gives a little more in terms of seating options, thanks to its customizable second row. But the Pilot gives you easier access to the third row. With just a push of a button, the second-row seats automatically move forward.
Cargo options
Odyssey’s 3rd row Magic Seat® can be configured to accommodate all kinds of cargo options. The Odyssey also has lower anchors and tethers for up to five child seats.
Storage for smaller items
The Honda Pilot makes up for the seating and cargo options with extra storage like 16 cup holders, seatback pockets, a hidden storage well, cargo bag hooks, and a versatile center console.
Overall space
The Honda Odyssey has a bigger passenger volume of 172.6 cu. ft. and 148 cu. ft. of maximum cargo space. The Pilot provides up to 153 cu. ft. of passenger space, and 83 cu. ft. of cargo space. So the minivan wins by measurement, but you can still fit a lot into a Pilot if you know what you’re doing.
Performance
Pilot’s all-wheel drive (AWD)
The Pilot is perfect for taking the whole family into the backcountry. The optional all-drive system is great for maximum traction. You can even go across tougher terrain with Snow, Mud, and Sand settings on EX trims and above.
Fuel tank
Both the Odyssey and the Pilot has a 19.5-gallon fuel tank. Each Odyssey model delivers 19 city and 28 highway mpg, while the Honda Pilot 2WD 9-speed automatic transmission models offer up to 20 city and 27 highway mpg. However, keep in mind that your driving habits do affect your vehicle’s mpg.
V6 engine
Both the Odyssey and Pilot have V6, and both engines put out 280 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. torque.
Comfort, Safety Features, and Entertainment
Rear entertainment
Both the Honda Odyssey and the Pilot offer available rear entertainment systems so your backseat passengers will be taken care of.
Built-in vacuum
The Odyssey’s optional HondaVAC® is a built-in vacuum with a long reach that’s able to clean the entire interior. If you struggle to keep your car clean, this feature might be a game changer.
Safety technology
Both the Odyssey and Pilot have the following technology safety features in select trims:
- Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™
- Rearview Camera
- Blind Spot Information System
- Lane Departure Warning
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Forward Collision Warning
You should always feel at ease behind the wheel of a Honda, knowing your family is secure. These safety features will help keep you out of harm’s way. Seeing as most of them are available on both models, you can’t go wrong.

Today’s SUVs can be broken down into two categories. On one side there’s big and bold. On the other side, there’s small and sensible. Honda recognizes the need for both, which is why they offer both the Pilot and CR-V models.
When comparing the 2017 Pilot with the 2017 CR-V, it’s less about pitting one against the other and more about measuring up each one against your own needs.
2017 Honda Pilot vs. 2017 Honda CR-V
Honda Pilot

Big, bold, and beautiful, the 2017 Honda Pilot is a classic SUV inside and out. This larger-bodied model rumbles down the road at up to 280 horsepower with 262 lb.-ft of torque made possible by a V6 engine. All that juice under the hood is necessary to support a 19.5-gallon fuel tank, seating for eight, and 3,500 lbs. of towing capacity.
The larger body — which is 14” longer and 5” wider than the CR-V — allows for a whopping 152.9 cu. ft. of passenger volume. To put that into perspective, the third-row shoulder room in the Pilot (57.6”) is nearly identical to the first-row shoulder room in the CR-V (57.9”).
Honda CR-V

The 2017 Honda CR-V takes after the more modest SUV designs that are popular today. In place of an oversized body is a generous 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway fuel economy. The CR-V still gets 184 horsepower and 180 lb.-ft. of torque and does so at a significantly lower price point than that of the Pilot.
The smaller and lighter body of the CR-V equates to more nimble handling, tighter cornering, and an overall easier time navigating tight city traffic and parking.
The Similarities
Despite their differences, the 2017 Honda Pilot and 2017 Honda CR-V share two big things in common. For one, they both boast superior safety ratings, with each model scoring a perfect five stars in overall crash test ratings along with Top Safety Pick+ recognition from the IIHS.*
Secondly, the Pilot and the CR-V each bear the Honda name, one that represents quality, affordability, and reliability. The 2017 Honda Pilot was named one of the “Best Family Cars” by Kelley Blue Book while the Honda CR-V was one of Kelley Blue Book’s 10 most awarded cars of 2017. The CR-V was also recognized as one of the “Best Cars for Teens” by U.S. News & World Report.

Even in warmer areas like Asheboro, North Carolina, the winter chill has the potential to damage your Honda. Sudden snow or ice storms can make driving conditions dangerous if you’re not prepared. That’s why it pays to be ready.
Schedule an appointment with the Asheboro Honda service team to prepare your vehicle for the colder weather ahead.
7 Ways Your Local Honda Service Team Can Ready Your Car for Winter
1. Check Your Tire Tread and Pressure
With the loss of traction that comes with winter weather, worn tire tread can be dangerous. Have your tread depth inspected before the snow starts to fall. If the tread is too worn, a tire rotation or replacement may be in order.
The cold weather can also affect your tire pressure as the air becomes more compressed. Check the PSI in your tires frequently throughout the winter.
2. Switch to Winter-Grade Oil
As the weather cools, you may want to consider switching to a thinner oil. This compensates for the oil naturally thickening as it gets cold. At your next oil change, ask the technician if they suggest making the switch for the winter months.
3. Test Your Battery
Cold weather can finish off an old battery, potentially leaving you stranded. Have your battery tested at your next service appointment.
4. Top Off Your Antifreeze
As the name implies, antifreeze keeps the water in your engine’s cooling system from freezing. Neglecting to check it before the temperature drops can cause serious damage to your radiator.
5. Inspect Your Brakes
If your car ever starts slipping on the road, good brakes may be the difference between an accident and regaining control. Have the brake pads checked when you bring your Honda in for winter service.
6. Refill Your Wiper Fluid
Although people use far more wiper fluid in the winter months, most neglect to top off their reservoirs. Make sure to fill up on freeze-resistant wiper fluid so you’ll be able to wash away any dirt or debris that winds up on your windshield.
7. Check Your Heater and Defroster
A good windshield defroster can save you minutes of scraping in the morning, and a functioning heater can turn your car into a sanctuary from the frigid air. Make sure both components are in good shape.
Schedule Your Winter Honda Service Appointment
Asheboro Honda’s skilled team of service specialists in North Carolina can help get your vehicle ready for winter. Schedule a service appointment for your Honda or contact us at (336) 628-5466 for more winter readiness tips.
The Honda Fit and the Honda HR-V are expected to be two of the more popular models in Honda’s 2018 lineup. But these vehicles are just as different as they are desired, and that’s why we’ve put together a comparison of the two that will help you decide which one is right for you.
2018 Honda Fit
The Honda Fit caters to drivers who prefer practical performance from their vehicle. With new Honda Fits for sale at a low price point at Asheboro Honda, this hatchback won’t break the bank. And with a combined EPA of 31 miles per gallon (including 36 mpg on the highway), the Fit allows drivers to save money throughout the lifetime of their ownership.
At fewer than 162” in length and only 67” wide, there’s a good reason it’s called a “Fit.” This 4-door slides effortlessly into parking spaces and is easy to maneuver through unforgiving city traffic.
2018 Honda HR-V
There are drivers on every road who like to bring along a little more. More power, more room, more amenities. And the new Honda HR-V is for sale for just those drivers.
With 141 horsepower, the HR-V has a bit more juice than the Fit (130 horsepower) for drivers who like to get up and go. This crossover SUV also has more rear headroom, front and rear shoulder room, and front and rear hip room, all of which translates to more cargo space and passenger volume.
The Honda Quality
Whether you like practicality or performance, safety is probably important to you. Fortunately, it’s important to Honda as well. Both the Honda Fit and Honda HR-V received 5-star overall safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, ensuring that no matter which model you choose, you’ll get there safely.
Both models also cleaned up on the awards in 2017, something that will likely continue with the new model year. Both vehicles were named one of the “Best Cars for the Money” by U.S. News & World Report. The Fit was also recognized as the “Best Resale Value” by Kelley Blue Book while the HR-V was named one of the “Best Family Cars” by U.S. News & World Report.

Honda has unveiled an impressive lineup of SUVs for 2017. And two of the more popular options from this cast of cars are the 2018 Honda HR-V and the 2017 Honda CR-V. Let’s take a look at a comparison of these two models to make sure you get in the right SUV for you.
Price
Of course, your budget will factor into your decision for any new vehicle you buy. And Honda has SUV options for any income level.
The Honda HR-V provides a more budget-friendly entrance, beginning with the LX trim and its affordable price. The CR-V caters to those who are looking to spend a bit more, with the LX trim starting at a higher price point, all the way up to the upscale Touring trim.
Luxury
As should be expected given their respective price points, the Honda CR-V offers a little bit more in terms of luxury. With seats, steering wheels, and shift knobs draped in leather, the CR-V is a Honda experience you likely haven’t had before.
With heated front seats and an Automatic Climate Control System, the HR-V gives you everything you need with nothing you don’t.
Performance
The HR-V hums around at a comfortable 141 horsepower, giving drivers no more than what’s necessary for the daily grind. The CR-V can push up to 190 horsepower for consumers that like to differentiate between a drive and a ride.
Appearance
The CR-V features a body that is longer, wider, taller, and heavier than the HR-V and a style that is slightly more rugged. With its more compact body and unique roofline, the HR-V gives off a sleeker, sportier look.
Technology
A multi-angle rearview camera, a 7” Display Audio Touchscreen, and USB portability highlight some of the bells and whistles you’ll find inside the cabin of the CR-V. Not to be outdone even as an economy option, the HR-V boasts the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System and HondaLink® for easy music streaming and social media use.
Safety
The CR-V comes loaded with all the safety attractions you’d expect at its price point, such as Honda Sensing. This suite of safety features includes a Lane Keeping Assist System, Adaptive Cruise Control, a Collision Mitigation Braking System, and a Road Departure Mitigation System.
Meanwhile, the HR-V executed the fundamentals well enough to join the CR-V in earning a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Awards
Both the Honda HR-V and CR-V were named among Kelley Blue Book’s 2017 “Best Family Cars.” Additionally, the HR-V was recognized as one of 2017’s “Best Cars for the Money” by U.S. News & World Report.
The CR-V went on to be recognized as one of Kelley Blue Book’s “10 Most Awarded Cars of 2017” while earning a Top Safety Pick+ recognition from the IIHS.

How the Honda Accord Gained Its Popularity
Through four decades, nine generations, and countless design changes, the Honda Accord has earned a reputation for being one of the most reliable cars on the road today. The Accord enjoyed a 15-year period as the best-selling Japanese car in the United States, and it’s appeared on the Car and Driver 10Best List a record 30 times. But how did the little 3-door hatchback introduced back in 1976 earn that reputation? It’s time to find out.
The Honda Accord: Classic, Safe, and Stylish
The Accord made its United States debut in 1976 — a time when the country was still reeling from an oil crisis. Originally released as a 3-door hatchback, the Accord was an instant hit. While not the only “economy” car on the market at the time, the Accord offered both an affordable price, a 68 HP engine, and an impressive suite of standard features:
- An AM/FM stereo
- Rear defroster
- Remote trunk release
In addition to all of those features, the Accord had an even bigger selling point — it could achieve a remarkable 46 MPG.
Three years later, Honda released the 4-door Accord sedan. By this point, over 100,000 Accords were on the road, the engine had been upgraded to 72 HP, and the car received an oil cooler and power steering as standard features.
The 80s got off to a rocking start with the release of the Accord SE trim. Decked out with luxury features like leather seats, alloy wheels, and a stereo with a cassette player, demand grew so high that dealers had trouble keeping the cars in stock. The following year, the second generation of Accord was released. Not only was it redesigned inside and out, but it was also now manufactured in the U.S., at a plant in Marysville, Ohio, where Honda still produces cars today.
This was also the first year the Accord became the best-selling Japanese nameplate in the U.S., a distinction it would continue to hold for 15 years. As the years went on, the Accord would continue to grow in both size and popularity. By the time the fifth generation debuted in 1994, the Accord was lauded for its superior safety, improved handling, and sporty styling.
Last year, Honda Accord celebrated its 40th birthday, with over 12.7 million sold. It’s once again the top-selling car in the country, with no signs of slowing down. You can see the latest version of the Accord at Asheboro Honda, along with our complete Honda lineup.
