Honda will be entering the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross season with a new Civic Coupe. Based loosely off of the production variant of the Civic Coupe, the rally version has been given a host of performance parts from Olsbergs MSE and Honda Performance Development. The end result is an all-wheel-drive beast that boasts 600 hp and the ability to get to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, which would embarrass even the most expensive supercars.

Sebastian Eriksson and 2014 series champion Joni Wiman will pilot the powerful machine. These drivers will have to be brave as the stages will push them and the 600-hp Civic Coupe to the limit with massive jumps and difficult terrain.

“Global Rallycross is a seriously extremely racing, and it’s a terrific platform to showcase the new Civic Coupe to an enthusiast, performance-minded young audience,” stated Nick Lee, National Advertising Manager, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We won’t encourage our customers to take 70-foot jumps on the street, but we will use this platform to tell people about all the incredible technology and performance capabilities of our new Civic Coupe.”

With 600 hp, the ability to get to 60 mph in the blink of an eye and the parts to withstand the demands of rallycross, the new Civic Coupe has its sights set on taking down the competition. And rightfully so, as the new 2016 Honda Civic is a great platform for a racing car.
